It was only a couple of years ago that I found out about the existence of blackjack tournaments. I was fascinated to know more about them and did some research. It turns out that the dealer has no effect on the actual game whatsoever and players are in competition with other players.
This is the same with poker of course as the dealer plays no active part in the game in that environment also. What it also shows is how playing tournament blackjack has no relation to playing casino blackjack and any player who tried to win a tournament by playing the same way that they would in an actual casino game would stand very little chance.
So basic strategy or card counting skill will do you little good and all new skills need to be learned…….how to accumulate chips in a tournament setting. This means playing aggressively and in some instances actually risking going broke.
Blackjack tournaments are immensely fascinating from a game theory point of view because they mimic poker tournaments so much. Money management is key in poker and so is managing your chips in tournament situations. Over the coming weeks I will be discussing blackjack tournaments more and I will enjoy discussing this as I am starting to become fascinated by them even though I have never played one in my life.
So I will be learning strategies that I will hopefully pass on to you and one day, I may just play in my first ever blackjack tournament so look out for that. But if you become as fascinated about tournament blackjack as I have done then you will really grow to like this new section.
