13. Twenty-First Century Blackjack
Author…………………Walter Thomason

This is a book that is far more interesting than what the reviews have given it credit for. Firstly the book was written in 1999 which while does not make it pre-Internet era, it does make it pre-online casino era.
With regards to many books, this would reduce the effect of the book. With Walter Thomason’s book then it is simply the other way around…….why is this? Well back in 1999 when online casino’s didn’t really exist, the progressive betting systems that Thomason speaks of in this book would have been of far less use than they are today.
This is because of the considerable sign up bonuses that are on offer with nearly all of the major online casinos. This means that the blackjack player has a considerable leg up in terms of income when the casino is prepared to give you money.
There is always powerful arguments against betting systems and the main argument is that they cannot grant you an edge. This is true but it is also stating the obvious to a large extent. Let us look at a few facts here, casinos do not like system bettors. I knew a casino where I worked who actually prevented a system bettor on blackjack from playing.
This player could go for months without losing. When people think of systems they tend to only ever think of Martingale type systems but this is one of the worst systems in operation today. Thomason showed in his book how he used thousands of hands that were self dealt along with hundreds of thousands of computer simulated hands.
The results will amaze many people but when you factor in outside input by way of casino bonuses then it isn’t difficult to see how players could win money using the information that is inside this book. I think this book is a perfect read for anyone who is planning to play online blackjack.
