The next entry into this book revue comes with a book that I found personally intriguing and that is,
7. The Great Casino Heist
Author………………Richard Marcus
Publisher………….Robinson Publishing
Published………….2005
I personally found this book very interesting although as a professional gambler and writer and ex-croupier, I was more intrigued to learn about the cheating methods that were employed inside a casino above anything else.
It has been a while since I read the book (about three years actually) but I do know that it was a thoroughly interesting read. Of course Richard Marcus seems to be the cheating guru these days and the guy has quite a name.
The book does highlight cheating methods on roulette but in no way am I recommending that players buy this book to learn how to cheat casinos. The moves in that book require tremendous skill and practice but you have to remember one very important thing……this is cheating and illegal.
So by all means buy the book and I am sure that it will enthrall you but as a book that will advance your knowledge of legitimate money making techniques then this book will not be for you.
I have seen criticisms of this book from croupiers who claim that Marcus portrays them all as idiots. I don’t think that this is the case at all, speaking from someone who knows a fair bit about this topic, it is clear to a skilled cheat which croupiers you should select.
This is part of the actual cheating process and while many croupiers and supervisors would spot these moves, an equal number wouldn’t and even if the casino had CCTV, these pictures don’t even get checked unless a big incident happened.
While I do not think that doing it for the amounts that Marcus did is feasible in most casinos due to the chip denominations, it is certainly possible to pull these moves with small denominations where dealers basically don’t care and are actually bored by the action…….decent book though but it doesn’t rate highly unless you want to be entertained or you have plans to cheat a casino.
RATING………7.5/10
see you soon
