20. Play Blackjack like the Pro’s
Author…………………….Kevin Blackwood

Published………………..2005

I was sceptical when I first saw this book as I am with all books on blackjack that are  written in the modern era. There is little that can be said that will expand the game or at least expand the game that we were used to playing years ago.

It is clear that Blackwood knows his stuff about Blackjack and has written for numerous sources down the years which makes him an authority on the game. The book covers many areas including areas for novices which I am sure will be annoying for experienced players and theorists.

The book is written similar to the Play Poker Like the Pro’s book by Phil Hellmuth that has taken a slating in some sources but which I found to be a good book.  What I like though about Blackwood’s book are his comments on camouflage and anti-detection methods.

For me personally this is the key area for blackjack players and an area where players simply do not concentrate on well enough. It is simply of no use to be highly skilled in the mathematical side of the game and have little or no knowledge of evasion techniques. There are a lot of good points that are made inside this book on this subject and I advise any serious blackjack player to get the book.

I always feel that taking just one good piece of information out of a book makes the price of the book worthwhile and this book certainly does not disappoint. While much of the material has already been covered, Blackwood does come at some aspects like evasion with a new look which is refreshing and is one of the advantages of reading a modern book.
