There are very few classic books on roulette but I think that the book that I am about to review is arguably the best of the lot.

9. Secrets of Winning Roulette

Author…………………Martin Jensen

Published…………….1998

Company…………….Cardoza Publishing

Cardoza Publishing have an excellent reputation for producing first rate books and this book of Martin Jenson’s is a good book. First published in 1998 and updated in 2002, the book discusses basically every explosive area of roulette play.

You name it and this book discusses it including biased wheel play and how to detect them, ball control and visual tracking and much more. I couldn’t really find much fault with this book except even for a computer dunce like me, it was obvious that the section on roulette computers was out of date.

I really think that the casinos would not have wanted this book to be printed because their profits on this game form a large percentage of their net result. Punters do not bet properly on roulette and concede a greater edge than what they originally start under.

But Jensen discusses the make up of roulette wheels although this section is out of date now with the arrival of the modern low profile computerised wheels from companies like John Huxley. The new Saturn wheels even have built in bias detection programs but you can hardly blame Martin Jensen for that.

This is the problem when you write a book, on certain subjects where technology is an issue then technological advancements can render a book or parts of a book obsolete and inaccurate. Despite that this is still a very good book and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who was seriously considering a study of roulette or was trying to ascertain how to get some sort of edge against the casinos.

So I cannot award the book maximum marks but it doesn’t fall short by much and so my score is……..

RATING………………9/10
