In poker then it is always very powerful to know what your opponents know. This is because you can begin to plot the mistakes that they make and target your game plan around that. For example imagine if your opponents simply made too many big mistakes in big pot situations post flop but were also loose-passive. This means that they enter too many pots with weak hands by limping. So you would need to increase the number of hands that you play. So a hand like 7-6s for example increases in value. If someone limps with say a hand like K-2s from early position then you know that this is a weak player. Firstly their king is dominated by anyone with a higher king. Secondly their draw isn’t even to the nuts and thirdly a weak limp implies exactly what it is and that is a weak hand.
So against better players then these limps get raised frequently. But when you call a player with K-2s with a hand like 7-6s then you are actually trying to bust the weak player. Even better would be if the opponent held say K-5s and the flop came say Kd-8s-4c and your opponent checked and you made a c-bet with the equity of your inside straight draw and your opponent called you. The turn card was the 5c giving you a straight and your opponent came out betting. Weak players will stack off here and you are there holding the nuts and can raise. Sure your opponent ill suspect that he is beaten but sure as eggs are eggs…..they will call. So you are moulding your play around the mistakes that your opponents are likely to make.
