These days with online poker then there is a deluge of players who are active playing short stacks. Players do this for numerous reasons but they mainly do not have the experience or knowledge to play deep. However a smaller BB/100 figure could be offset by simply being able to play more tables with what is a very simple style. Many people think that players who adopt a short stack approach are very tight. This is far from being the case as most good short stack players tend to make their money from fold equity rather than having their better hand called by a weaker hand.

So a pro short stack player could maybe get 5bb/100 while a good deep stack player may get 10bb/100. However the smaller 5bb/100 is often easier to replicate over more tables simply because the strategy is so simple to execute. So while a deep stacked player may max out at say six tables and only see 500 hands per hour. The short stack player could maybe see something like 16 tables and see 1200 hands per hour.

This is why you really do not want too many short stack players on your table as a deep stacked player. However if one or two short stack players have position on you then you need to adjust your strategy somewhat by altering your raise sizes. This means that they cannot take as much of your money when they three bet or shove and since they fold a high percentage of their range pre-flop then you can often take their blind money with less risk.
