In online poker then you need to understand that the game is far different than live poker and that the levels are far tougher. In fact I would go as far as to say that the average NL100 ring game live would be as tough as a NL1000 game in Las Vegas. I have even heard some reports from certain sources who claim that NL200 online games are as tough as NL5000 games in Vegas. That to me sounds pretty staggering but the sources have been reliable and so I believe them to be true. Seeing as I have not played in Las Vegas then I cannot personally comment.

However online poker is an electronic representation of live poker but it is also an environment where data and the analysis of data is king. This is where people like Dusty Schmidt did so well because they were playing as many as 20 tables and using software like Hold’em Manager. In fact the use of tracker data is so key as you move up to certain levels that moving sites is more of a big deal than what you think. Until you have reliable tracker data to go on then you are basically concentrating on your ABC game.

You really only make moves when it is in your interests to make moves and the way to do that in online poker is to have tracker data. In the absence of it then you are having to guess far more and also having to rely on ABC. If you have a solid ABC game then you can still make money if the levels are low enough but once you move up to levels where most players have a solid ABC game then you need something more and that “something” is a database of information and the bigger the database then the more margin you can create.
