Wherever you look in the gambling world then there are systems for this and systems for that. Whether it is blackjack, poker, trading, roulette, punto banco, horse racing…..you name it and there is a system for it. In poker then systems are usually to do with card dependent strategies or short stack strategies most of the time. There is nothing wrong with system based play and they can do quite well in tournaments like SNG’s for example. Their real true strength comes from the fact that they can quantum leap novice players into playing a decent level of poker quite quickly.
However no system in the world will take you to expert level and you need far more than that. I do not believe that in games like poker that any system based style can be the optimal style for one simple reason. This is because you are attempting to use a linear way of playing in an environment that is non-linear in nature. They work in other games like blackjack and roulette for example although they cannot produce profits in roulette. However systems do help novice players to play decent poker and they can do this relatively quickly.
This is why in games like limit hold’em which has a fixed betting structure then the game is more geared towards system based play than other forms of poker like no limit hold’em for example. My advice would be to try poker systems if you are new to the game and see how you get on with them.
