No 12.  The Montgomery Brothers

It is always highly subjective if people who cheat should be in a “hall of fame”. Actually there are strong reasons not to include the “Monty brothers” here and if you want to complain then feel free to do so. I met these two people back when I was in gaming when they actually cheated on the table that I was inspecting.

They were not cheating from the casino but from other players. I was on the verge of leaving gaming for good and so I actually gave them some rope to keep on doing what they were doing because I had an intense fascination in finding out how successful they were. I also had a freak meeting with them purely by chance after I had left gaming for good and I actually became good friends with both of them for a while. But time has a habit of breaking people up but not before they confessed to me that they were making £1000 ($2000 at the time)/week from stealing chips.

To me then this was absolutely staggering that someone could not only do this for week after week and month after month but also that they didn’t get caught by the casino. Although having said that, I had stumbled upon them and so there was always a chance that someone else had also seen them and also failed to report it simply because the crimes were not being committed against a casino.

In no way am I championing their activities, only their nerve and guile and creativity.
So they go onto my hall of fame which just now may have to be renamed “hall of infamy”.
