The casino bosses are well aware of collusion between dealers and players in casino blackjack. In single deck games then it is possible for the dealer to help the player in one of many ways. Many of them would be invisible to the eye in the sky. The first one is what is called “peeking”.
In single deck blackjack the dealer deals their first card face face down and in doing so, it is perfectly possible to deal this card in such a way that either it is visible to the player or to the dealer himself or to someone else on the table who is an accomplice.
Then the value of that card is passed on to the player who is obviously betting larger bets and they adjust their playing strategy accordingly. One of the best ways to perform this trick is to use team play. The dealer intentionally exposes the card to the player on first base who is nothing more than a spotter.
This spotter is betting table minimums and so even if the surveillance cameras detect that the card is visible to first base, they can also see that the player at first base is not taking advantage of the information. What is even more difficult to spot is the subtle signalling system that is in place between players A and B.
So if the dealer is showing a seven and the down card is a ten then the player at first base knows that the dealer has seventeen. He then transmits this information to player B and if they have 16 or less then they hit. There is a slight variation of this tactic that can be employed in shoe games that I will explain later but it still needs a dealer to be in collusion with the team.
