Being a casino croupier is a great job for some people but not for others. I think that probably mirrors life in general to a large extent. For me personally it wasnt a great job but then again I was married at the time and had a baby daughter who I rarely got to spend evenings with. But if you are single then working in casinos is a great way to not only meet people but to also possibly travel the world doing it.

For me personally then gaming had other hidden advantages. Although these really didn’t become apparent until later on after I had left to a large extent. Building up my knowledge of casino counter measures and how they could be approached and beaten stood me in very good shape when I was approached several years later to reveal what I knew.

But basically what I did know wasnt common knowledge amongst croupiers. I used to socialise with a manager out of work who often said more than what he should have done after a few drinks. So I became in possession of knowledge that only tiny numbers of people actually knew and certainly not someone of my relatively small position.

Couple this wth the fact that I was doing my own research then my knowledge built up rapidly. This was how I could train blackjack players so that they could avoid detection. But getting back to the subject of being a croupier, if you are single then it can be great but even then, many single people prefer going out at night and not having to work. This can be especially frustrating at the weekend on Fridays and Saturdays.

English gaming staff are always well recieved in other countries although if you work abroad then you will be allowed tips unlike in England as it contravenes the gaming act. As many members of staff actually pair off with each other then you may just meet your future partner working in a casino and probably will do seeing as your social life outside of work will likely take a nose dive. It is something that I would say, dont listen to other peoples experiences and do it for yourself if you really want to do it.

see you soon
