CLOCKING:
This is the practice of carefully watching the spins on a certain roulette wheel and trying to ascertain if certain numbers are arriving more frequently than others. This practice is sometimes done to try and detect exploitable wheel biases.
COLOUR CHIPS:
This term is used in England and certain other countries to denote the the different coloured playing chips on each table. Each player has their own “colour” to differentiate their bets from everyone else’s.
COLUMN:
There are three vertical columns on a roulette layout that run from the bottom of the table to the top near the actual wheel. Each column has twelve numbers and a bet on the column represents a bet on all of those twelve numbers.
COMBINATIONS:
Combinations or combination bets are simply bets that cover several numbers. Bets on the six lines for instance are combination bets.
CONE:
This is the part of the wheel that surrounds the spindle and runs down to the actual number pockets themselves.
CORNER BET:
A corner bet is simply a bet that covers four numbers on the layout.
CROUPIER:
A Croupier is a French term for the dealer. The Croupier places bets, pays winning bets and takes losing bets and also spins the ball and controls the game.
In the next part of this glossary I will be looking at the letter “D” and all of the important terms and names that are associated with that letter for the game of roulette.
