IMPAIR:
There are many French terms in roulette for the simple reason that the game originated in France. Some countries still adopt French terminology and especially for types of bets. One such piece of terminology is “Impair” which is simply a bet on the odd numbers.

INSIDE CORNER:
A section of the layout that features the corner of the table on the inside of the pit area closest to the dealer.

INSIDE BETS:
Bets on roulette can either be “inside” or “outside”. What this basically means is that the outside bets are the bets that are featured on the outer perimeter of the layout. These are the even chance bets of odds, evens, black, red, high numbers and low numbers and the columns and dozens.

The “inside” bets are the 37 numbers on the layout or 38 numbers if it is a double zero wheel.

INSIDER:
A term rarely used except in certain circles that describes someone either employed by the casino who is colluding with a player or a player with dangerous knowledge of how to beat the game with unorthodox methods. These types are often ex gaming staff.

JETONS:
These are betting plaques of a much larger denomination than what are in general use on the actual roulette tables. Once again this is a French term and these “plaques” or “Jetons” are often used in Europe.

KICKING THE SPIN:
This practice is done to speed up the wheel so as to try and randomise the result. In England it is not uncommon to see gaming managers do this but that is a highly unprofessional practice and it is usually done when a table is losing money.
