NOIR:
This is once again another French term only this time meaning a bet on “black”.
NO SPIN:
This is when the croupier needs to re-spin the ball. This could happen for numerous reasons, the wheel could be spinning so fast that the ball bounces out. Or a foreign object could somehow find its way into the wheel. If you think that this is strange then I have known cigarettes, matches and even coins accidentally dropped into a roulette wheel while the spin was in progress.
Another reason is when the ball gets hung up on the cylinder and will not drop, in this instance then the Inspector or Croupier will call out “no spin” and then manually pick up the ball and re-spin.
ODD BET:
This is a bet on the odd numbers.
ODDS:
These are the pay-offs on all of the different bets on the layout. A bet on red, black, high or low or odds or evens for example pays 1:1 or in betting parlance… Even money.
Winning bets on columns and dozens pay 2/1. Winning bets on six lines pay 5/1. A winning bet on corners pays 8/1 and 17/1 on splits (chavals). The highest pay out on the table is straight up on a number which pays 35/1.
ORPHANS:
This is a special bet that covers the numbers that are not covered by other types of call bets. Orphan bets tend not to be allowed as call bets these days but some casinos do still accept them.
OUTSIDE BETS:
Any bet not on the actual numbers themselves is an outside bet.
