Many people get confused with roulette pay-outs and that is understandable given the different odds that are on offer. With odds of 35-1 on the number, 17-1 on the split, 8-1 on the corners, 11-1 on the streets and 5-1 on the six lines then big bets in terms of chip action can be hard to figure out. So you need to know your 35 and 17 times tables, the other times tables you should have learnt at school so there is no excuse.
If you have 35 chips on the number then you need to know 35×35. If you do not know this then there are short cut methods to work it out so that you do not have to trust the dealers word for it because dealers do make mistakes. Whenever there are sums that I cannot work out then I fragment the sum. In this instance 35×35 seems difficult but we know that 10×35 is 350 as this is easy to workout. So if we do that four times to make 40×35 then it is far easier to find the answer which is 1400 as that is four lots of 350.
However though that is not the final sum as we are 5×35 too much! So now we simply need to find the answer to 5×35 and then subtract that answer from 1400 to find what 35×35 is. So we now have a final answer of 1225 which I always found easy to workout than 35×35. Breaking numbers down in this way is a great way to work out difficult sums and you can do this with addition, multiplication, subtraction and division.
