I will never forget Rashid Khan for the simple reason that it highlighted to me that there are still people out there who are looking to scam casinos. Actually “scam” is the wrong term in this instance because Rashid was no scammer. Also the name is an alias as his privacy needs to be respected to the full.
But Rashid was interested in biased wheels and if you don’t know what a biased wheel is then I recommend that you read the rest of this site for more details about this little known area of casino betting.
Rashid wanted to know what I knew about biased wheels, how they got that way, what maintenance levels the casinos had and how they could be exploited. It was quite alarmingly for me to see someone in the flesh who not only had the knowledge to do something against the casinos but also the nerve to follow it through.
Although of course, nerve really shouldn’t enter into it as you are not doing anything illegal unless of course you are taking actions to deliberately make a roulette wheel biased. I only ever encountered this once in all my years of gaming and the method used was so crude it was laughable.
One guy was trying to create a bias by sitting on the edge of the table near the wheel. Usually you could pass this off as an accident which it usually was but in this instance I had overheard these two guys talking about it elsewhere in the pit area.
Although you have to give credit where it’s due and these two guys certainly had the right idea but they chose to go about it in the wrong way. In nearly all instances then the inspector merely politely tells the culprits to move and the situation passes.
But Rashid Khan was something else and he was a very, very determined man.
See you soon
