Following on from my earlier post about playing roulette, I didnt manage to mention all of the available bets. For instance I didnt mention the “streets”. At the end of each three numbered line you can place a bet that covers those three numbers like with 1,2,3 or 7,8,9 for example. These bets pay 11/1. So see the recurring theme here, three chips paying 11/1 on a street is the same as placing one chip on each number in that street. If either 1,2 or 3 comes up then you have three chips paying 11/1 which is 33 and your 3 remaining chips makes 36.

If you had placed your three chips not on the street but on the three individual numbers then the return would still have been 36 chips but just in a different way. If say number 3 came up, you would lose your bets on numbers 1 and 2 but recieve a 35/1 pay-off for a bet on the number plus of course your winning chip back, thus 36 chips again.

You can also bet on groups of six numbers as well called the “six lines”. So you could bet on 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 arriving or maybe 31,32,33,34,35,36 at the bottom of the table. These bets pay 5/1 but once again see the theme, placing six chips on a six line returns the same as you now get six chips paid off each at 5/1 which totals 30 chips and you still have your six chips on the six line as winning bets are not removed. So once again there are 36 chips that are yours.

There are many peculiar quirks to roulette and one such quirk is that it is often called the “Devils Game”…….This is because adding up all of the numbers from 1 to 36 equals……..you guessed it……. 666  :-)

But before you start running for cover, keep in mind that in over twenty years of being associated with this game, I havent seen a red man with horns and fiery eyes yet :-)

The last two blogs discussing roulette may have confused a few people but dont worry, it will all make sense if you can actually see a layout in front of you. So see you soon and take care.
