I have always mistrusted artificial aids in gambling. Things like tracker software in poker like Poker Office what I use and sports betting software like BetAngel. Don’t get me wrong, these are fantastic tools that do a great job but tools are really all they are.

Tools by themselves will not do a good job in any profession, take away the craftsman using the tool and the tool itself is useless. This was one such problem that we faced when we played blackjack and used Shuffle Trak.

Now I have gone on record many times stating what a fantastic piece of software this is for tracking casino shuffles. It can do more than a player can do with the naked eye although having said that the results of the software even on basic shuffles cannot be trusted 100%.

Actually I will rephrase that, they can be trusted as long as the dealer keeps to the shuffle that is the exact replica of the shuffle that you have inputted into Shuffle Trak. So actually it isn’t the software that is making a mistake, it is the using of the information from the software to wager money in situations that are not exact reproductions of the data that you have put in or got out.

This is not the software’s fault or the dealers either, it is the fault of the player and their failure to adjust the results based on subtle differences in how dealers shuffle from shoe to shoe. Slight almost unnoticeable differences in pick sizes can have a huge effect on the re-distribution of cards into the next shoe.

So what does all this mean? Well it means that any electronic software aid must be dovetailed with human expertise to obtain the optimal effect. This then comes down to experience of not just using the software in question but in also understanding when to use the data and when not to use it.

See you soon
