Whenever you enter any blackjack game in mid-shoe then obviously a very large amount of information is going to be missing. The information that I am referring to is count information based on what configuration of cards have come before. Many players think that mid-shoe entry is disastrous because a player could be betting big in negative counts.

The process is that a counter sits down at a table after one deck has been dealt or more and then proceeds to count from that point onwards. Then if the count goes positive enough so that the situation merits a larger bet then they make that bet. But the problem is that the positive situation that you think that you have may just be totally offset by the fact that a high card segment could have materialised in the section of cards that you have not seen.

However this is not the situation at all because what we are dealing with here are cards unseen. So if we are dealing with cards unseen (cards that have been dealt prior to our sitting down) then the correct way to proceed is to treat the shoe as it is at the beginning and make the count zero.

I have known more than one successful blackjack player who hopped from table to table doing this very tactic. It then totally eliminates the usual line of what a card counter does and that is to count from the start of the shoe and be seated. This player stood behind and hopped from table to table. This is a great tactic to use if a casino has more than one blackjack table in operation as you can walk away on negative shoes and treat cards unseen as zero.
