This is a term used to describe the act of back counting on blackjack and then coming in during positive counts. It is named after the blackjack legend “Stanford Wong” which of course was an alias. The technique is based on the premise that it is far better and lucrative to not have to sit through negative shoes which can be very soul destroying as well as a financial drain on your bankroll. It also attempts to side track the process of bet spread as well as this is one of the primary factors that casino staff look for.

If you arrive at card counting with a mind-set that you could go from a $2 minimum bet to a $200 maximum bet without anyone noticing or you not getting any heat then you had better think again. There is simply no chance that you could get away with this and you’re playing life would be exceptionally short. However when you “Wong in” then you do not have the same bet spread and in fact you could easily play betting no more than the table maximum or the maximum that your bankroll would allow. So if your bankroll allowed for $100 maximum bets then every single situation that you encountered would be positive in terms of when you bet.

The down side to the strategy is that you are forced to constantly play and then leave the table which is also noticeable with any casino staff that is in the slightest bit knowledgeable.
