There are certain days and certain events that stay with you forever and the memories never fade. One such memory involved me dealing roulette. I had been practicing spinning sections and trying to get out of sections for ages and my skill at doing this was slowly starting to improve. At the casino where I worked we used to have an older roulette wheel that had the deep sided pockets and so wherever the ball dropped it then stayed there.

This wheel was fantastic for block spinning and one evening I was having a huge game with Chinese punters and my game was starting to become very chip heavy. There was only one single number on the entire table that didn’t have a chip on it and that number was number one. I had the wheel in the perfect place and the ball could be spun from just the right spot for me to move it a quarter of the way around the wheel and get very close to number one.

I took careful aim and released the ball and I knew with about a revolution to go that it would be close. But it was closer than that; it was a direct hit on number one. This caused dismay amongst the Chinese punters who also just assumed that it was just one of those things. On the next spin I proceeded to hit the same number again after aiming for it again. This made several punters leave the table but the most staggering thing was that on the third spin, I aimed for number one and hit it a third time. The look of mistrust on the faces of the punters was quite unnerving but it was still an experience that I will never forget, to aim for a number three times and hit it three times in succession.
