Did anyone see the Derren Brown piece on roulette on Channel 4? Well he was using visual prediction and ended up placing £5000 on number eight and it came next door. What I found strange about the whole thing was in fact how the wheel was one of the old fashioned deep pocket types, I wasnt even aware that there were any still in operation in the UK.
In fact as we speak, I think that I will do some research on this program to see where the club was where Derren Brown actually did this. I have only seen the clips on youtube and the pictures were a little fuzzy. But what Derren Brown did wasn’t actually difficult on that type of wheel. This was precisely the wheel that I talked about in my book Killer Roulette where I aimed for number one and TRIPLED it.
There are lots of incidents that I could recall from gaming like the time I purposely tripled number five that had £100 on the number and £100 on the split all because a certain pit boss had annoyed me. But there is little difference between a dealer controling the spin and a player predicting the spin.
You are basically looking for several key components and when they fit into place then you have the potential to turn the odds in your favour. The first component is rotor speed, this is also easy to calculate and can be done using a fixed point on the wheel and the best fixed point on the wheel is the zero as it is in a colour that stands out……green!
So then you can count one revolution, if based on the speed that you are counting, it takes a count of four for the zero to make exactly one revolution then this number will be constant from spin to spin. Then you have to calculate the ball speed, most dealers do not deviate their spin and so if you are getting the same ball speed and rotor speed from spin to spin then the result in terms of drop off point will be the same.
Now what we have left is the final criteria, where the ball was actually spun from. If the ball was spun from number three and landed in number 8 and the surrounding numbers (without deflecting) then it is safe to assume that this result will be replicated under ideal conditions where the dealer is not trying to decieve.
Hope you found that interesting
